Dr. Richard Wool, President and CEO
Dr. Wool is a recognized expert in the field of composites, particularly technologies involving renewable resources. He was instrumental in forming the Affordable Composites from Renewable Resources (ACRES) group at the University of Delaware and continues to lead this group into new areas of technology. Before founding Cara, Dr. Wool spent fifteen years conducting research on uses of natural oils, proteins and starches in plastics. He is the author of Polymer Interfaces: Structure and Strength (1995) and co-author of Bio-Based Polymers and Composites (2005) and has published over 100 papers. Dr. Wool was a founding member of the Bio/Environmentally Degradable Plastics Society and was Chairman of the ASTM Committee for Biodegradable Plastics. He has a B.S. in Chemistry from University College Cork, Ireland and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Utah.
Mr. Michael Fisher, Director of Operations
Mr. Fisher was formerly with Cabot Corporation, a $1.7B specialty chemicals company, where he led a $350 million specialty chemicals business. As Director of Marketing and Sales, he was responsible for P&L, long range planning, and leading manufacturing via sales and operations planning (S&OP). In addition, he held interim positions as R&D Director and CFO and was a board member and main liaison of Japan and German joint ventures. Mr. Fisher has negotiated and executed multi-year international sales contracts and conducted strategic analysis and long range planning for various existing and start-up businesses. Before Cabot, he was with Dupont for 16 years where he held various positions in engineering, polymer product and business development, technical sales, and management. His last position in Dupont was Marketing Director for Ecochem, a DuPont/ ConAgra joint venture that developed degradable polymers for industrial and commercial applications. He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon and an MBA from Rensselaer.
Mr. Stuart Grant, Secretary, Treasurer, and Legal Counsel
Mr. Grant is a director of the Delaware law firm Grant & Eisenhofer, P.A. and has extensive experience with representing institutional investors nationwide in securities and corporate governance litigation, proxy contests, and other related matters. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Widener University School of Law and also a Certified Teacher for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA). Mr. Grant has a B.A. in Economics from Brandeis University and received his J.D. from New York University School of Law.
